The Voice of Vegan Activism

From Air Duct Cleaning To Vegan Activism For Beginner Vegans

If you are just getting started with the vegan lifestyle, then you probably want to share the joys of the lifestyle with as many people as possible. It’s important to take care with vegan activism, though, because it is easy to turn people off if you evangelize too much, and it is also easy to get caught out if you aren’t well informed about the vegan lifestyle.

Most people know that vegans don’t eat animal products – but do you know how many things have animal products in them? Even some food colorings contain animal products, and there are dairy products hidden almost everywhere. Another thing that you need to pay attention to is things like clothing – would you wear something if it was made of leather?

Vegan activism starts at home. You have to be careful to assess everything you buy and everything you do. That means assess the water you drink, the carpet you walk on, and the air you breathe. We just moved and discovered that getting air duct cleaning is beneficial to indoor air health because the previous owners had three cats, and two¬†dogs, and one of the cats was a Siamese which is highly allergen producing. Even though it’s not eating meat per se, assessing your lifestyle can be tiring at first until you know what products have hidden animal products in them.

Remember, also, that non-vegans don’t want to be lectured. As an activist, it’s important that you bring people around to your side, not berate them until they switch off to the idea of the cause.

Water Under the Bridge

A few words about my own Vegan Activism – while I may have stopped eating meat for health reasons, it has changed the way I view them. I was trying to improve my health when I went vegan.

In the process of collecting recipes and learning about what I could eat and needed to avoid eating, I learned all about animal rights. It is almost impossible to go vegan without taking up the cause of vegan activism.

It has also made me much more careful about what I eat and how it is processed or treated. For instance, I am very aware of the dangers of pesticides in our food and even in our water.

While a general awareness of what’s in our food has become a national obsession, vegan activism probably gave it its start. To be vegan long ago meant having to make a lot of protein-packed meals purely from scratch.

It sounds like it should be easy, but in truth it was not. That’s probably the biggest takeaway these days. The people in the past have saved many animals’ lives while improving the health of the food that we all ingest today. I would say that a good deal of this is attributable to vegans.

Vegan Activism Is Not Next On My List

I am trying to get fit, so I have decided to start following a vegan diet. This is not as simple as having a salad at every meal. In fact, trying to eat a balanced diet while cutting out animal products can be pretty complicated. I have done a good amount of research, but I know I still have a lot to learn. One thing I really have no idea about is vegan activism. I understand it to a degree, but I also feel like this is probably best left for people who are not eating animal products for moral reasons.

I really like meat and I really do not have anything against those that choose to keep eating it. My choice is purely about trying to lose some weight. This is probably why I am not in a rush to head out there and start protesting companies that test on animals and things of that nature. Who knows? Maybe one day I will feel differently about things, but for now I will just stop eating meat and let other people worry about who is wearing real fur and things of that nature.

Hello and welcome!

Hi! My name is Kate and I’m a student at ASU. One of our assignments is to write a blog, and it can be about any topic that we want, but the point is to get experience blogging. So here I am!

My friends want me to get involved in vegan activism, and I am just not sure. I share a lot of beliefs, habits, and even lifestyle traits with them. We all tend to vote for the same politicians, listen to the same music, go to yoga studios together when we can, and we all drive hybrids or electrics.

One thing I definitely share with them is a love of vegan cooking. We love going to vegan restaurants, and I’ve learned quite a few vegan recipes at home. I certainly eat vegan when they are around, and I love the health benefits of the diet.

Yet that is perhaps where I differ from my friends. They take it a step further into vegan activism. I am content on the other hand to just enjoy a vegan diet, for the most part, as a personal choice, but I still have animal products from time to time.

It’s a personal choice for me, when it suits me, and so I don’t feel I have any right to judge others, but I am not going to judge my friends for fighting for what they believe in either.

A Quick Look At Vegan Activism And How You Can Get Involved

Vegan activism can sometimes have its limits within its own ranks. The reason I say that is because there are vegans, and then there are the real strict vegans. Vegans have to be strict in general because they take things several steps further than vegetarians. You can look at it as blurred lines, or you can just simply lay out the ground rules and follow them, making individual decisions as needed. Some people find that they don’t want to place as many restrictions on themselves.

Vegan activism therefore can mean something a little different to everyone. People that are very restrictive might be more proactive, but all vegans are upholding the same principles, give or take. There are people that will tell you that they are vegan, but…meaning there is a but. My sister and her partner were vegans for months, but they weren’t very outspoken about it.

Restaurants can be a part of the vegan movement and vegan activism by offering menu choices for vegans. Members of communities can start groups and join organizations online. If you network with other activists in the community, you can be sure your voice is heard, you can make friends, and you can get some more delicious vegan recipes.
